The Studio
The Practice
We are a landscape and garden design practice established in 2017 by Elizabeth Tyler.
We believe in creating beautiful, site-specific and plant-led landscapes in collaboration with our clients. With a focus on plants, experience with historic landscapes and ecological knowledge we bring a full range of skills to our projects and relish new challenges and opportunities.
Current projects include country estates in Devon and East Sussex, a listed garden in Hampshire and various wonderful London gardens.

Elizabeth Tyler, Founder & Principle Designer
Following degrees in politics and social sciences at first Cambridge then the LSE, Elizabeth decided to shift to landscape design. Her formal schooling in Landscape Design started at KLC School of Design but began much earlier in the garden of her family home in Norfolk. Inspired and enlivened by nature and the historic for as long as she can remember, Elizabeth brings this to every one of her projects. Upon completion of her Diploma, Elizabeth worked for Marcus Barnett Studio in London on a variety of international projects, before setting up her own practice in 2017. She is now based in Wiltshire. She also writes about landscapes and gardens, throughout history and across the world. Recent work has appeared in FT Weekend, T Magazine, House & Garden and Vogue.

Having moved out of London and started a family, Claudia is also a passionate gardener and always seeking tips from the team.
Izzy Carruthers, Junior Landscape Designer
After completing a degree in industrial design in the US, Izzy spent a number of years working internationally in product design. In 2023 she decided to use her design background and pursue her passion for landscapes by moving towards landscape design. Inspired by the UK's rich history of gardens and rooted in a love of the outdoors she completed the Diploma in Garden Design at KLC in 2023. Izzy approaches every project with a desire for creative challenge and the goal of positively impacting both the environment and client’s lives, through the creation of functional, beautiful outdoor spaces.
Ellie Edkins, Landscape Designer
Ellie began her career as an Interior Architect working with clients including the National Trust and Historic Scotland at a Cornish studio.
